Project Spotlight:
Gengler Feed Mill Complete Construction- Calumet, Iowa
Gengler Feed Service of Remsen, Iowa has parnered with Heartland Steel to construct a state of the art feed mill at their existing grain storage site in Calumet Iowa. With project development initiated in 2024, and construction commencing this past summer of 2025, our team is making strong progress on this exciting new build.
Breaking Ground
After months of engineering and development, we officially broke ground on site in July of 2025. With 1.4 million pounds of concrete in the basement and scale pit alone, a substantial portion of this project lies underground.
I-Beam Structure
Following the excavation and foundation process, our crew began erecting the I-Beam framework. As the primary load-bearing structure of the mill, these beams are custom engineered to support heavy processing equipment and grain handling systems.
Looking Forward
Construction will continue to advance through 2026, with substantial completion anticipated in the latter half of the year. Upcoming phases will include installation of the hopper/bin arrangement, construction of towers, legs, further structure, and installation of various types of grain processing equipment.
